I will now continue on with  the 10 of my favorite Rookie articles. So here are the next 5. They're all pretty damn awesome too.

6. How to Make Your Room Look Like a Movie
I adore ideas about making your room reflect your personality, and all of these ideas are so good. From The Virgin Suicides to Where the Wild Things Are, there is tons of cool inspiration. I really need to get working on some of these things in my room.

7. Not Creepy At All
This is just one of my absolute favourite articles. I love the idea of making a shrine to the things that you love, and it's kind of a strange and almost sinister idea, but they look so amazing. Some great ones are number 20 for Hole, 22 for Alan Rickman (I adore him) and 69 for Leo Dicaprio (also hugely adore)

8. Friend Crush
This is a series where people can write to Rookie about a friend they have and they get a little interview. I always like these, so here is one for you to take a look at.

9. Where Your Book Begins
For any of you who love to write like I do, or just express yourself on paper, having a diary is ideal. Here are some DIY ideas of what you can do with a journal, and different ways to get it all out.

10. Christian the Lion
I love Christian the Lions story SO much. You may've heard it before, but if not....read read read. And watch the video. It made me cry.

ROOKIE

Okay, so I'm going to start off with something that I know I can talk to you about, and that I KNOW could benefit you. Remembering that I survived being a teenager without Rookie for about 4 years is crazy. It's like a life bible for teenage girls. And it's nice to have something like a life bible when you're an atheist.
I've decided to give you a rundown of my TOP 10 Rookie articles, 5 today and 5 tomorrow and I triple dare you to check them out.

1. How to Not Care What Other People Think of You

Isn't this just the ultimate dilemma for us girls? And guys even. It covers all of those main areas of what makes us self-concious and refrains us from doing what we want. It covers learning to love your image, your body, your soul, your personality....and it's all pretty darn good advice. Not just 'Be Yourself'. How many times have we heard that before. And it's written by Tavi Gevinson herself 'sigh'

2. Let It Out

This is a great article with just loads of different ways of RELEASING THAT ANGST.

3. Heart-Shaped Box

I just want to get this out there so that maybe someone will read this who knows me and will make me one. It's basically a really cute idea for a present.

4. Be Cool

This article....I just really like it. Sometimes my legs get me down(everyone has their hang-ups) but this made me feel like HELL it doesn't matter, imma go wear whatever I want. Although currently being skint, I am unable to buy anything that I want. That's life for you.

5. Fake It Till You Make It

I just love this phrase. So many people do it, why can't we? I'm kind of in the process of this, in a way. Recently I've been making more random conversation, pretending I'm more confident when talking to people who aren't necessarily 'friends', when really I'm like "oh god they must think i'm so weird". And it's actually working. I do feel more confident.

Next 5 articles coming up tomorrow....I'll throw some more lighthearted ones in there. Rookie is not only for giving godlike advice, it's funny as heeelll.

One last thing, Rookie has themes each month. This month is faith. I'm thinking of writing about my ideas about faith and what I believe on here. I have lots of opinions on it. But tarah for now.

Monday 3 December 2012

hi, i exist

So, after wanting to create a blog just about forever, I'm finally here. I'm not entirely sure which direction I'm going to go with this, but the idea is to give you an insight into the mind of a fairly normal 15 year old girl. Although really, how can you define normal? I'm not sure I could descibe what that word means, but by saying that, I mean that I don't have a life story to tell you. I can't tell you about all of the amazing things that I've done or seen, I'm not immensely popular, but I have some incredible friends. At the end of the day, one of my favourite things to do is read a book on the sofa. By saying 'normal', I'm trying to tell you that I don't lead the most interesting life. You know. I wake up, go to school, come home, mess around on the internet and read, hang out with my friends at the weekend. This cycle is generally on repeat. That's not to say that I find my life boring because I don't, but do you see the angle that I'm coming from? Anyway, my plan is to show you that even boring people have some pretty awesome thoughts. I probably think too much. Here, I can get it all out.

Some things that I may be referencing a lot are
1. Harry Potter
2. School
3. Feminism
4. http://rookiemag.com/

Rookie is life.

Anyway, thanks for hearing me out there, I look forward to our futures together.
